Mr Elliot Sorene is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic, Hand & Upper Limb Surgeon currently serving at University College London Hospital. He obtained his medical degree from University College London and Middlesex School of Medicine in 1995 and completed his Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery training in 2004. Building on this solid foundation, he pursued specialised fellowships in hand, wrist, and upper limb surgery at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby (2004–2005) and at the Centre for Hand and Upper Limb Surgery at Wrightington Hospital, Lancashire (2006). His exceptional skills were recognised when he was awarded the European Diploma in Hand Surgery as the best candidate in 2005, along with the prestigious Churchill Livingstone Medal. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 2006.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Mr Sorene is an active educator and researcher. He is an invited faculty member at hand and wrist surgery courses held at Wrightington and Derby, as well as wrist arthroscopy courses organised by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His expertise is further acknowledged through various speaking engagements at courses and trusts across the region. Mr Sorene also serves as an editorial board member for the Journal of Children Orthopaedics, the official journal of the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS). Mr Sorene is a reviewer for a number of peer-reviewed journals.
Mr Sorene lectures and undertakes surgery internationally, demonstrating surgical techniques and teaching. In addition, he undertakes charity work and surgical expeditions in India and Nepal undertaking surgery for post-traumatic reconstruction, paediatric hand surgery for congenital abnormalities and leprosy surgery.
Mr Sorene is an examiner for the British diploma in surgery of the hand.
