About Mr Gerry O'Sullivan
Mr Gerry O'Sullivan is a Consultant ENT Surgeon with 30 years of experience. He specialises in general ENT conditions, including nasal, sinus, and throat disorders, as well as issues related to hearing, ear, and balance. He also treats snoring problems and investigates patients suspected of having head and neck cancers, referring patients needing major surgery/radiotherapy/chemotherapy to colleagues who focus on oncology. His main interests include rhinology nasal conditions, otology ear conditions, and paediatric ENT surgery. Mr O'Sullivan introduced endoscopic sinus surgery to the Wirral and was the first ENT surgeon in England to use a microbrider, now a key tool in Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery FESS. He performs routine procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, middle ear surgery, and parotid surgery. In addition to his surgical practice, Mr O'Sullivan was the Chief Medical Information Officer for Wirral University Teaching Hospital Trustuntil 2024. In this role, he lead efforts to integrate digital technology into healthcare, helping the trust maintain its status as a global digital exemplar. His previous roles include Clinical Lead for ENT, Clinical Director for Special Surgery, Associate Medical Director of the Division of Surgery, Chair of the Medical Board, and Member of the Spire Murrayfield Medical Advisory Committee.
