Dr. Christopher Peach
Orthopaedic Surgery
About
He is a world leading specialist in the management of arthritic conditions affecting the shoulder and the elbow and uses both injection and keyhole treatments as well as total joint replacements to enable patients to recover fully from their pain and restore their movement. He has been a pioneer of computer navigated surgery in the shoulder which has improved the accuracy of placement of the shoulder replacement which in turn improves the pain relief and function for the patient and increases the number of years the replacement can survive for. He now is leading on the provision of robotic surgery for the shoulder in Europe, an exicting innovation which will improve patient care and outcomes.
Chris also treats patients with all sports injuries of the shoulder and the elbow, including tennis elbow, and upper limb fractures and works with Sports and Exercise medicine physicians, phyiotherapists and radiologist to ensure the very best outcome.
Chris continues to undertake and promote research into shoulder and elbow conditions which ensures improvements to our understanding of medical conditions as well as to our treatments. He is the past Chairman of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society research committee and sits on the council of the society. He has also been elected to the membership of the European Shoulder and Elbow Society. He is Professor at the University of Manchester and carries out research in the field of bioprinting.
Chris trained as a surgeon in London and Oxford and undertook specialist fellowship training at Wrightington Hospital in the Shoulder and Elbow Unit under Prof Ian Trail, Prof Len Funk and Mr John Haines. He also was awarded the Sheffield Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship and trained at the internationally recognised Northern General Hospital Upper Limb Unit with Mr David Stanley and Mr David Potter. He has also trained at the Mayo Clinic in the United States where he has worked with Prof Shawn O'Driscoll.
In his spare time Chris keeps active, competing in triathlons and playing racquet sports.
