Mr Barkatali graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School and taught anatomy at the University of Oxford before completing his surgical training through the Manchester Orthopaedic Training Programme. He undertook a specialist knee fellowship in Germany and, in 2014, was appointed Consultant Knee Surgeon at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. Since then, he has developed a modern, forward-thinking private knee surgery practice, incorporating the latest techniques and innovations.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Barkatali holds Honorary Senior Lectureships at both the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University.
