Having been educated at Merchant Taylors' school in Crosby,Liverpool I gained entry into St.Mary's Hospital Medical School in London in 1985. I completed an inter-collated BSc in 1988 and qualified as a doctor in 1991.I completed my basic surgical and registrar training on the North West Thames rotations and after completing a Sports Medicine Fellowship in Perth,Western Australia was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon at The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust in May 2002.
I have been faculty on National and European courses dealing with arthroscopic knee surgery,anterior cruciate ligament and complex multi-ligament surgery.
I was a founder member of The Bone and Joint Centre and went part-time in my NHS practice in2012.
I have an interest in all sports especially rugby and played for England U18 whilst at school.I provide knee services to a number of football and rugby teams and am knee surgeon to Liverpool Football club.
Outside of work,I enjoy watching sports,cooking,red wine,real ale and gin
