He has extensive experience in pancreatic surgery and laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery, performing over 200 laparoscopic cholecystectomies (gallbladder removal) and 80 major pancreatic resections every year. He sees patients with various conditions, including: chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, pancreatic cysts, hernia (inguinal, umbilical, femoral, epigastric and hiatus), gallstones and gallbladder disease.
Alongside his work at the hospital, Mr Smith is also an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Leeds, an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons and the President Elect of the Pancreas Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
