In 2011, he became a Scholar in Interventional Radiology at Stanford University, USA and in 2015, he was awarded his MD from Cairo University, Egypt. Following his scholarship, he established a highly specialised unit for advanced interventional radiology procedures and pioneered the vascular and Interventional Radiology service at his hospital in Egypt.
Dr Abdelmaksoud serves as an official proctor, consultant, and speaker for SIRTEX company, specialising in Yttrium-90 radioembolization for liver cancer treatment. He supervises numerous Y90 radioembolization treatments across Europe, Asia, and Africa. He is also a member of several international societies, including the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE), Egyptian Society of Interventional Radiology, and Pan Arab Interventional Radiology Society (PAIRS).
