About

Mr Mike Barrett is an expert orthopaedic and trauma surgeon based at the Orthopaedic Specialist Surgeons Alliance (OSSA), where he specialises in foot and ankle conditions.

He is highly experienced and often receives referrals for expert input or second opinions on complex foot and ankle problems. He also works as a consultant at Cambridge University Hospital, where he sees severely injured patients and those with the most challenging foot and ankle conditions.

His expertise covers all conditions of the foot and ankle (including trauma and sports injuries), and he offers both surgical and non-surgical treatment options. He has vast experience in treating conditions such as Achilles tendon disorders, hallux valgus (bunions), arthritis of the toe, foot, and ankle (including replacement), flatfoot deformity, ankle instability, peroneal tendon dysfunction, plantar fasciitis, and Morton's neuroma.

Mr Barrett received his orthopaedic training in the east of England. During this time, he was awarded the Trainee of the Year, the Trinity Cup (best in class), and the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society gold fellowship awards. He has also completed a foot and ankle fellowship at the University Hospitals of Dorset and a major trauma and limb reconstruction fellowship at the Royal London Hospital.

He also regularly teaches junior surgeons and is the co-founder of the international digital education platform orthohub.xyz. Furthermore, he is a published author in his field and has written book chapters on foot and ankle surgery for the Bailey and Love series and authored several peer-reviewed publications.

Outside of work, Mr Barrett enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children, and his hobbies include running and cycling.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
