About Mr Matthew Brown
Mr Matthew Brown is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine, specialising in the care of both routine and high-risk pregnancies. He completed his medical education at the University of St Andrews and Barts and The London School of Medicine, before pursuing specialist training in Fetal Medicine under the mentorship of Professor Kypros Nicolaides at King’s College Hospital, London. Mr Brown has played a leading role in pioneering fetal surgical techniques in the UK, including in-utero spina bifida repair using minimally invasive methods. He is one of only two specialists in the country qualified to perform this procedure and continues to collaborate internationally with experts in Europe and the United States to advance the field. His NHS practice encompasses a broad range of complex obstetric care, including high-risk pregnancies, diabetes in pregnancy, and complex caesarean sections. He also runs a Birth Choices Clinic, supporting women who have experienced previous birth trauma. With expertise in fetal diagnosis, maternal medicine, and surgical management, Dr Brown is committed to ensuring personalised, evidence-based care. His approach centres on clear communication, informed decision-making, and the physical and emotional well-being of the women he supports throughout pregnancy and birth.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
