About Mr Mark Nowell
Mr Mark Nowell is a neurosurgeon based at Nuffield Health Bristol and Southmead Hospital. His clinical interests are in the following areas: • Craniocervical pathology, • Cervical spondylosis, • Lumbar disc disease, • Minimally invasive spine surgery, • Intradural pathology. He takes a patient-centred approach to care and offers a range of treatments to enable patients to make informed decisions that are right for their individual conditions. Mr Nowell undertook neurosurgical training in Bristol before developing a subspecialty interest in spinal surgery. In 2017 he gained the British Association of Spinal Surgeons Travelling Fellowship. He then completed complex spine fellowships at the Leeds General Infirmary, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. Mr Nowell also holds a PhD from UCL on developing advanced imaging tools and computer navigation for use in neurosurgery. He has presented his work both nationally and internationally and has published extensively. This is an area of great interest in modern spinal surgery. With dual training in neurosurgical and orthopaedic spine surgery, Mr Nowell possesses the skills and expertise to offer his patients the most appropriate treatments for their spinal conditions. This includes degenerative disease, trauma, tumour, and infection across the spine.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
