Ms Kat Baker

About
She qualified in medicine from the University of Bristol in 2006 and subsequently undertook a Royal College of Surgeons research fellowship at University Hospitals Bristol and the University of Bristol. She completed an MD in cellular and molecular medicine, focusing on colorectal cancer, and led a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) portfolio-adopted study. Her research has been recognised with awards including the John of Arderne Medal from the Royal Society of Medicine and the Rosetrees Essay Prize.
Ms Baker was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, during which she conducted research at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University. She later completed a specialist colorectal fellowship, including robotic surgery training, at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
Appointed as a consultant in 2021 at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, she remains actively involved in research, education, and national collaborative studies in colorectal surgery and inflammatory bowel disease.
