About Dr John McLindon
Dr McLindon is the Senior Gastroenterologist at St Helens and Knowsley Trust. He trained at Liverpool Medical School receiving prizes for best student in Medicine and Paediatrics in his finals exams. He was then trained in General Internal Medicine in various hospitals in Merseyside and Manchester before being appointed to the post of Lecturer in Gastroenterology at Manchester Royal Infirmary. He then completed his training in Medicine and Gastroenterology over a seven year period including advanced endoscopy training and ERCP training under the guidance of Derek Martin in Withington Hospital. His research interests as lecturer included liver disease with an emphasis on hepatitis C. Dr McLindon was appointed to the post of Consultant at St Helens and Knowsley Trust in 1997. Dr McLindon has expertise in a wide range of illness presentations and endoscopic techniques including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, advanced colonoscopy including endomucosal resection and ERCP. He was Director of Medical Education and chaired the medial training committee for Mersey Deanery until recently. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Coollege of Physicians in 2001. He has an excellent record in private medical practice for 25 years and practices through Fairfield Independent Hospital in St Helens
