Dr Gallagher now has 30 years orthopaedic surgery experience, graduating from Queensland University in 1993, commencing his orthopaedic career in 1996 and finishing his training in 2002 under the President of the Australian Knee Society. For the last 22 years, since 2003, Dr Gallagher has exclusively performed knee surgery only and undertook 3 years of further subspecialist knee surgery training with Presidents of 3 world renowned societies – the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the American Knee Society (AKS) and the British Knee Society (BASK).
Since 2003, Dr Gallagher has performed more than 20 different knee operations including arthroscopy, anterior cruciate and other ligament reconstructions, cartilage and meniscal transplants, patellofemoral realignment and stabilisation, femoral and tibial osteotomies and partial and total knee replacement. But, from 2025 onwards, Dr
Gallagher is focusing on the advances in knee replacement surgery, using robotic assisted and computer navigated technology combined with small incision and rapid rehabilitation techniques. Dr Gallagher established the Qld Knee Surgery Clinic in 2006 and has a team of nurses, physiotherapists and clinic staff who have worked together for many years and over the last few decades have assisted more than 10,000 patients.
