About
Mr Malik’s specialist expertise includes hernia repair—ranging from routine to recurrent and complex incisional cases—advanced abdominal wall reconstruction, gallbladder surgery, and state-of-the-art minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques designed to ensure faster recovery, reduced discomfort, and optimal outcomes. He provides comprehensive treatment for conditions such as inguinal, femoral, umbilical, and incisional hernias, gallstones, and acid reflux. His practice also incorporates pioneering approaches, including the use of Botox® in complex abdominal wall repair, reflecting his commitment to surgical innovation.
Alongside his private practice, Mr Malik is a full-time Consultant at Homerton University Hospital, London, where he serves as Acting Lead for Clinical Research. He is also Co-Director of the North East London Commercial Research Disease Centre, helping to advance transformative developments in healthcare.
Mr Malik holds a PhD from Imperial College London’s Institute of Global Health Innovation and is a Visiting Senior Fellow at the London School of Economics, where he contributes to shaping the future of global healthcare.
Mr Malik is a health policy researcher specialising in health system financing, evidence-based policy, and surgical practice evaluation. He completed his PhD at Imperial College London under Professor Elias Mossialos (LSE) and Lord Ara Darzi (Imperial), where his thesis, “Low Value Care in General Surgery,” developed strategies to identify and reduce low-value surgical interventions. His research, published in the British Journal of Surgery, has shaped national and international policy discussions, including invited presentations at NHS England/NICE, the Dubai Health Authority, and HTAi.
Dr. Malik’s work includes major industry collaborations, such as a €100,000 Sanofi project via LSE Consulting, and has been widely covered by leading media outlets. He continues to drive impact through publications, consultancy, and contributions to books on healthcare financing and reform.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
