About Dr Hongyi Zhang
Dr. Hongyi Zhang graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2003 after completing a rigorous five-year course at Inner Mongolia Medical University in Hohhot, China. With 22 years of experience as a TCM doctor, Dr. Zhang has a comprehensive background in treating various conditions using acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and remedial massage therapy. Even before his graduation, he began gaining practical knowledge by observing doctors at the university hospital during his summer breaks. Upon graduating in 2003, Dr. Zhang was appointed as a Chinese Medicine doctor at the China-Mongolia Hospital. Until December 2007, he honed his skills as an acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist, and remedial massage therapist, treating a wide range of conditions. In January 2008, Dr. Zhang moved to London, where he has been helping patients ever since. In 2002, he used his expertise in Tui Na therapy (remedial acupressure massage) to train blind masseurs, helping them develop their palpation techniques. In China, Tui Na massage is a well-established profession for the blind and visually impaired, with vocational courses organised by the central government and TCM specialists like Dr. Zhang providing the training. Dr. Zhang has accumulated extensive experience in treating joint and muscle pains, creating personalised solutions for neck, shoulder, and lower back pains, as well as stroke sequelae and paralysis. He is skilled in combining acupuncture, Tui Na, and Chinese herbal medicine for effective treatment. His practical knowledge extends to using acupuncture and Chinese herbs to help both men and women overcome fertility issues and treat various digestion problems. Additionally, he offers natural treatment for emotional healing, including stress, anxiety, and depression, through a combination of acupuncture therapy and Chinese herbs.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
