About Mr Geza Mezei
Mr Geza Mezei is a Consultant Neurosurgeon with expertise in neuro-oncology (the treatment of brain tumours) and stereotactic radiosurgery (a highly precise, non-invasive radiation treatment for brain conditions). He has been a consultant in Sheffield since 2018, providing specialist care for patients with brain tumours, spinal conditions, and vascular malformations. Mr Mezei obtained his medical degree from the University of Debrecen, Hungary, in 2001. His training included scholarships and fellowships in Germany and Italy, followed by neurosurgical training at the University of Debrecen, a major centre for neurosurgery, including paediatric neurosurgery and radiosurgery. In 2011, he qualified as a specialist neurosurgeon and worked as a consultant in Hungary, managing a wide range of neurosurgical conditions. In 2014, Mr Mezei moved to the UK, completing a Radiosurgery Fellowship at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital under the guidance of Mr Radatz. He remained in Sheffield to further develop his expertise in operative neurosurgery, leadership, and management. Mr Mezei was awarded a PhD in Neurosciences in 2015, focusing on tumour genetics and intraoperative tissue diagnosis. He has published extensively and has a particular interest in radiosurgical treatments for large acoustic neuromas, metastatic brain tumours, and vascular malformations.
