He then undertook basic training at Austin Health and went on to complete his specialist cardiology training at The Alfred Hospital, where he gained knowledge and expertise in heart failure and transplantation.
He went on to undertake postgraduate research on the mechanisms of low blood pressure and fainting and has since published much of his research in renowned, peer-reviewed clinical cardiology journals. He was also won the Ralph Reader Prize from the Cardiac Society of New Zealand and Australia for his work.
