About
Dr Gao Jing Ong is an Interventional Cardiologist and Clinical Pharmacologist with a specialist focus on ischaemic heart disease and complex coronary interventions. He graduated in medicine from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 2010 and subsequently undertook advanced cardiology and clinical pharmacology training at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2018.
Dr Ong pursued further subspecialty training through a dedicated structural and coronary interventional fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, followed by an advanced fellowship in complex coronary intervention and chronic total occlusion percutaneous coronary intervention (CTO PCI) at St George’s Hospital, London, under the mentorship of Professor James Spratt. This training has provided him with extensive experience in high-risk and technically complex coronary procedures.
He completed a PhD at the University of Adelaide in 2022, focusing on Takotsubo syndrome, and continues to maintain an active academic and research profile. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and contributed to cardiology textbooks.
Alongside interventional cardiology, Dr Ong has a strong interest in clinical pharmacology, with a focus on optimising evidence-based pharmacological therapy in cardiovascular disease.
He currently holds appointments at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with admitting rights at Calvary Adelaide Hospital. He is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred cardiovascular care integrating procedural expertise with medical optimisation.
