About Dr Fahad Shaikh
Dr. Fahad Shaikh is a dedicated and accomplished NHS Consultant and lead clinician at the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology, located at the new DCN, Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh. Dr. Shaikh earned his Medical degree from the University of Glasgow. His pursuit of excellence led him to continue his studies with postgraduate training in renowned medical centres across the UK and beyond. The majority of his learning was done in major teaching hospitals in Glasgow and London. His commitment to diverse medical care is shown by his dual certificates of completion of training (CCT) in Clinical Neurophysiology and General Practice, granted by the General Medical Council. Assuming the role of a sole clinician at the former "DCN" in the Western General Hospital in 2017, Dr. Shaikh played a pivotal role in the expansion and evolution of Neurophysiology services. Dr. Shaikh epitomises a fusion of skills, knowledge, and training that forms the bedrock of his holistic patient approach and clinical skills. His primary interests are neuromuscular diseases, nerve injuries, and epilepsy. Additionally, a specific clinical and research focus on motor neuron disease (MND) underscores his commitment to advancing the field. A multifaceted professional, Dr. Shaikh balances clinical practice, education, and research. His expertise is often sought for delivering training courses to clinicians in various specialties, spanning Neurology, Neurophysiology, Neurosurgery, Medicine, Orthopaedics, and Plastic Surgery. Dr. Shaikh's research pursuits span local and international horizons through the Anne Rowling Clinic at the University of Edinburgh. He also takes on the role of Specialty Adviser to the Chief Medical Officer in Scotland for Clinical Neurophysiology.
