He worked in Cambridge, Leeds, London and Nottingham before gaining a British Heart Foundation Research Fellowship to study for a PhD in Leeds. His specialist training in Cardiology in Leeds (Yorkshire Heart Centre)- Huddersfield and Wakefield. Appointed Visiting Professor in Cardiology at University of Wisconsin School of Medicine- Madison- USA 2004-5.
