About Dr Simon Aylwin
Dr Simon Aylwin is the lead consultant endocrinologist at King's College Hospital and head of the pituitary and adrenal multidisciplinary teams. He also has a private practice at London Bridge Hospital. Dr Aylwin's special interests are pituitary tumours, thyroid disorders, adrenal tumours, neuroendocrine rumours and hyponatraemia. He also works alongside bariatric surgeons to treat patients with severe obesity. Dr Aylwin has published more than 70 peer-reviewed articles on a number of topics including endocrine tumours, clinical obesity, appetite regulation, and molecular endocrinology. He is also a reviewer of journal submissions and sits on the editorial board for the journal ‘Pituitary'. He gained his medical qualification from Cambridge University in 1987 before undertaking further training at the Royal London Hospital. He gained membership of the Royal College of Physicians and went on to achieve a PhD in 2001. He has a continued interest in medical education and delivers lectures throughout the UK and overseas countries including Spain, India, and Korea. He has also contributed to a number of symposia and debates at societies such as the British Endocrine Society.
