Dr Shilpa Selvan is a Consultant Rheumatologist at Basildon University Hospital, where she has worked since 2015. Alongside her clinical work, she has a strong commitment to medical education and training. Between 2016 and 2024, she served as Undergraduate Lead for Medical Education at Basildon University Hospital, overseeing the coordination and delivery of undergraduate medical teaching on behalf of University College London Medical School, including the organisation of final MBBS clinical examinations locally. She also holds the position of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at University College London.
Her further academic qualifications include a Master’s degree in Medical Education completed through the Royal College of Physicians and University College London in 2023. She is also a member of the Rheumatology Specialty Certificate Examining Board and works as a PACES examiner.
