Prof Rod Stables is a consultant cardiologist at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (LHCH), UK.

He founded the Clinical Trials and Evaluation Unit at the Royal Brompton Hospital and led its initial flagship ventures. He developed the risk adjustment algorithm that was used in the initial national reporting of named-operator PCI outcomes. More recently, his research group has been responsible for some successful UK clinical trials including HEAT-PPCI and RIPCORD 2. He is a past chair of the Academic and Research Committee of the British Cardiovascular Society and Clinical Lead of the BHF Clinical Research Collaborative.
