In 2009, he joined Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals Trust as a consultant dermatologist, and in 2012, he became the Clinical Lead for Dermatology. He has since established himself as a key figure in the field, earning six clinical excellence awards for his contributions to the NHS. His work in dermatology also earned him the distinction of becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2012.
Dr. Farrant's expertise extends beyond general dermatology into the highly specialised area of hair and scalp disorders, where he is recognised as a national authority. As a founder of the British Hair and Nail Society and a Fellow of the European Hair Research Society, he actively contributes to research, guidelines, and education in this field. He frequently lectures nationally and internationally on hair loss, alopecia, and scalp conditions, and is currently the principal investigator in several alopecia research studies.
As part of the skin cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals, Dr. Farrant performs over 400 skin cancer surgeries annually, ensuring comprehensive care for his patients. He is involved with professional organisations such as the British Association of Dermatologists, American Academy of Dermatology, and European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.
