About

I have many years of experience in treating athletes of all abilities – weekend warriors through to elite professionals. Whatever level of physical activity you engage in: an accurate diagnosis and an individually tailored management plan are vital. From running related foot pain to rugby related shoulder pain you can be assured of the same care and attention that I give to the elite athletes under my care. I have worked in elite sport for 20 years. I am currently Head of Medical Services for the Great Britain Cycling Team. Between 2014 and 2017 I was Doctor to the England Senior Rugby Team. Previous employers have included Liverpool Football Club, the English Institute of Sport and British Gymnastics. Until January this year I had an NHS post as Lead Clinician for the Musculoskeletal Assessment Service at University Hospital Aintree. I now work with colleagues in the Joint Health service at Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals NHS Trust. I have extensive experience in the management of musculoskeletal pain of any cause - from activity related injuries through to arthritis. My sports of special interest are Rugby, Football, Cycling and Boxing. I therefore have particular expertise in the management of concussion and the diagnosis/treatment of shoulder, knee and ankle injuries. I am passionate about my work and all patients can be assured of the highest quality of care.

The services offered at Spire Liverpool Hospital are: Sports injury diagnosis, investigation and non-surgical management. Treatment of all musculoskeletal pain. Joint and soft tissue injections including new therapies for tendon and muscle problems. Advice on sport specific rehabilitation and injury prevention strategies. Pre-contractual, pre-participation and insurance medicals including full musculoskeletal and biomechanical assessments.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
