About Dr Krista Farrell
Dr Krista Farrell is a consultant neurologist at the West Hertfordshire NHS Trust and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and is the Clinical Lead for Neurology at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust. She was responsible for establishing the West Herts acute neurology outpatient service and treats patients with a wide spectrum of neurological problems. Her areas of interest are: • Acute neurology • General neurology • Headache • Transient loss of consciousness/First seizure • Epilepsy • Parkinson's disease Dr Farrell undertook her medical studies at Trinity College, Cambridge, followed by an MA in experimental psychology. She completed her higher specialist training in Cambridge and London teaching hospitals and worked as a research fellow at the Cambridge Centre for Brain Repair, focusing on biomarkers and novel therapies for Parkinson's disease. She is now a clinical advisor for the Parkinson's Care and Support UK charity. Dr Farrell is passionate about education and has taught in both Cambridge and London. She is an Honorary Lecturer at University College London and a member of the Neuroscience BSC Course Committee. She developed the neurology curriculum Brunel University Medical School and is the Education Lead for the Neuroscience Institute at Cleveland Clinic London. Dr Farrell has a number of other interests, in particular, foreign languages, music and dance.
