About Dr Jonathan Katz
Dr Jonathan Katz is a Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology, based at Barnet Hospital, which is part of the The Royal Free London NHS Trust. He has over 30 years experience in treating patients with Thyroid problems, Pituitary disorders, Diabetes and other hormone imbalances including Calcium disorders, Menopause, Testosterone Deficiency and Addison's Disease. Dr Katz studied medicine at Cambridge University and University College London, qualifying in 1991. He specialised in Endocrinology, completing registrar training at UCLH, the Whittington Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital. During higher training he undertook a two year research fellowship for his MD thesis on polycystic ovary syndrome. Following that, he worked for 1 year as a registrar in Sydney, Australia before returning to teh Royal Free Hospital for his final resgistrar year. Dr Katz was appointed as a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology in 2002. Dr Katz works as a Consultant Endocrinologist for the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, based at Barnet Hospital. In 2009, he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), an honour granted to consultants providing the highest standards of care. In 2019, Dr Katz was appointed as Regional Advisor for the Royal College of Physicians – this is an elected post with wider responsibilities : supporting training, ensuring new consultant posts fulfil Royal College standards, chairing regional conference updates for physicians and appointing College Tutors. Dr Katz has a busy NHS Endocrinology practice, seeing over 300 new patients and over 1000 follow-up patients each year. In addition, he looks after inpatients at Barnet Hospital with diabetes emergencies and acute endocrine disorders.
