About Prof Guy Leschziner
Prof Guy Leschziner is a Consultant Neurologist specialising in sleep disorders, epilepsy and other causes of blackouts or funny turns. His NHS base is Guy's and St Thomas's and he works within the Deparatment of Neurology and the Sleep Disorders Centre. He holds clinics in sleep disorders, epilepsy and general neurology. Prof Leschziner completed general medcal training in London and then underook a PhD in the genetics of epilepsy and drug treatment at Imperiall College London and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in Cambridge. His neurology training was completed at the National Hospital for Neuroology and Neurosurgery and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals. He lectures on a regular basis and has ongoing research in narcolepsy, sleepwalking, Kleine-Levin syndrome and restless legs syndrome. Prof Leschziner is also Professor in Neurology and Sleep Medicine at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King's College, London. He also has an active interest in public engagement, is a presenter for BBC Radio 4 and World Service on neuroscience, and is author of "The Nocturnal Brain: Nightmares Neuroscience and the Secret World of Sleep" and "The Man Who Tasted Words" Diseases, Medical Tests and Treatments • Epilepsy • Sleep Disorders • Headache/Migraine • Weakness, numbness and tingling • Tremor • General Neurology
