About Dr Brian Halliday

Dr Halliday is a Consultant Cardiologist at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals and Clinical Associate Professor at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London.  He is a leading expert in cardiomyopathy, heart failure and cardiovascular magnetic resonance. He manages patients with all types of cardiovascular disease and adopts a patient-centric and individualised approach.  His research interests focus on improving the treatment of patients with cardiomyopathy and heart failure throughout their lifetime, tailoring therapy to the individual. He designed and conducted the BHF funded TRED-HF trial which was published in The Lancet and gone on to guide treatment of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. More recently he has received further funding to perform follow-on trials aimed at investigating novel ways of managing patients with cardiomyopathy. He currently holds a prestigious BHF Intermediate Fellowship.  He completed his undergraduate training at University of Edinburgh and was awarded the Murdoch Brown Silver Medal for Medicine, before completing his clinical training at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals and St George’s Hospital. He has won several national and international awards for his research. He has completed post-graduate degrees including a PhD and MSc at Imperial and Oxford.  He is on the editorial board of the European Heart Journal and Circulation Cardiovascular Imaging and regularly reviews for top journals including NEJM and The Lancet. He is a member of the British Society of Heart Failure Research Committee.  He leads a module for Imperial medical students and supervises several cardiology trainees doing post-graduate research.

"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
