Dr Bhupinder Sihra

Dr Sihra is an experienced consultant in General Paediatrics with sub-specialty accreditation in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine. In addition, he is expert in clinical allergy , with over over 26 years of experience as a consultant at Colchester in North Essex before retiring from NHS in 2025 as well as many years as an honorary consultant in paediatric allergy at Guys and St Thomas's Hospitals in London . To complement his paediatric experience, Dr Sihra also has over two decades of expertise in diagnosing and treating allergic diseases in adults. He provides paediatric clinics (allergy and respiratory) at his consulting rooms in Colchester's Wellbeing Clinic and also adult allergy practice based at the Ramsay Oaks Hospital, Colchester (where he has been on the medical staff since 2000). He also provides video based virtual consultations. Dr Sihra trained and worked at several teaching hospitals including Southampton General , the Royal Brompton, St George's, St Thomas', Guy's and King's College Hospitals He was an honorary consultant at the Evelina Children's Hospital Chidren's Allergy Service between 2000-2016. Dr Sihra is able to formally assess and manage any general medical problems in babies, infants and young children (for example, assessment of conditions such as growth concerns, diarrhoea, comstipation, headaches, tummy aches etc). Moreover he has sub-speciality accreditation in paediatric respiratory medicine and allergy/clinical immunology and is able to advise on chronic conditions such as recurrent infections, cough, wheeze and difficult asthma. The areas of clinical expertise that cover all age groups include allergy assessment (and testing whenever clinically indicated) and management of allergic diseases such as food and/or respiratory allergies, anaphylaxis, allergic rhinitis, hay fever, urticaria or angio-odoema, insect sting allergies etc Dr. Sihra completed his Bachelor of Medicine (BM) at Southampton University Medical School in 1984 and passed his Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP) exam in 1989. He was made a Fellow of the Royal Collage of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2001, a testament to his ongoing professional development and expertise in his field. In 2009, he was awarded his Doctor of Medicine (DM) - a PhD level postgraduate doctorate - from Southampton University for his thesis based on his research studies in clinical allergy. Dr. Sihra has active research interests and researched mechanisms of allergic asthma and the use of novel immunomodulatory drugs in severe asthma at at the Department of Allergy & Clinical Immunology of the Royal Brompton National Heart and Lung Institute and Imperial College, London. He is the author or co-author of several peer-reviewed published papers. He is a member of the European Respiratory Society, the European Academy of Allergy & Clinical Immunology, the European Cystic Fibrosis Society, the British Society of Allergy & Clinical Immunology and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
