About
In 1996 he qualified with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from University College London, and was awarded a Distinction in Master of Science from Birkbeck University in 2010. He became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2000 and completed his fellowship with the prestigious college in 2011 and received recognition of his contribution to Psychiatry. He completed his specialist training with the London Deanery in Psychotherapy and Forensic Psychiatry with many centres of excellences affiliated to UCL. He spent over 15 years working for the NHS before focusing on his private practice and the education of medical students. He has many published articles and research papers and is regularly in the media highlighting current issues faced in the mental health system.
In 2017, Dr Hakeem became Professional Ambassador and Trustee for the Shaw Mind Foundation, a mental health charity working with schools and workplaces to increase awareness and reduce stigma in relation to mental health.
