About

Dr Arvind Shah is a Consultant Paediatrician and Lead Clinician based at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. He has extensive clinical and academic experience across a broad range of paediatric subspecialties, including respiratory medicine, cardiology, neonatology and general paediatrics.

Dr Shah previously held a consultant post at Great Ormond Street Hospital until 2010 and undertook senior registrar training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. He also completed an international neonatal fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, gaining advanced experience in neonatal and tertiary paediatric care.

He completed his MD in Paediatrics and Diploma in Child Health (DCH) in Mumbai, India. His clinical expertise includes paediatric respiratory conditions such as asthma, paediatric cardiology, and newborn and general paediatrics. He regularly assesses and manages common childhood presentations including rashes, fever, gastrointestinal symptoms, feeding difficulties, headaches, musculoskeletal problems and the assessment of the acutely unwell child.

His research interests include childhood asthma, growth, paediatric neurology and upper airway disorders, with publications at national and international level. He has developed a midwife-led newborn examination module and has been actively involved in service development, creating integrated care pathways for common paediatric conditions.

He has played a significant role within the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, serving as Principal Regional Examiner and Strategic Lead for South Asia for eight years. In this role, he established MRCPCH examination centres across India, Myanmar, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
