Dr Moorthy completed his medical degree at Madurai-Kamaraj University, India in 1989, followed by his postgraduate training in general medicine for 3 years. He later completed further specialist training in rheumatology in Manchester, Northampton and Leicester as well as training at the University of Ancona in Italy. Dr Moorthy also holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Rheumatology from the University of Manchester.
Dr Moorthy's areas of expertise encompass a wide range of conditions. He excels in the management of early rheumatoid arthritis, lower back pain Ankylosing Spondylitis , Fibromyalgia,Gout , sciatica, neck and shoulder pain, wrist pain, and soft tissue rheumatology. He is proficient in performing ultrasound examinations of joints and is skilled in ultrasound-guided joint injections and epidural injections. He also has specialist expertise in suprascapular nerve block injections, carpal tunnel injections and comprehensive care for chronic widespread pain, gout, osteoporosis, and fibromyalgia.
In his NHS Trust, Dr Moorthy established a tertiary specialist clinic for patients suffering from ankylosing spondylitis and leads a combined rheumatology and eye service, providing comprehensive care for patients with rheumatic conditions.
