About
Dr. Ankush Singhal is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist, with 25 years of experience in treating a wide range of mental health conditions. Since beginning his career in psychiatry in 2001, Dr. Singhal has built a reputation for compassionate, evidence-based care, and has served as a Consultant Psychiatrist since 2010.
He has specialist expertise and several years of experience in running TMS clinic and the diagnosis and management of adult ADHD.
A leading figure in the development of innovative treatments, Dr. Singhal played a pivotal role in establishing the first NHS Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) service in the North West of England at Pennine Care. He continues to serve as a TMS consultant, delivering care both within the NHS and privately, in association with Pennine Care TMS service for conditions such as depression and anxiety. His TMS clinic is now also covered by BUPA health insurance.
Dr. Singhal also provides expert assessment and treatment for individuals living with conditions such as anxiety, depression, Panic, phobias, OCD, sleep difficulties, Trauma related conditions such as PTSD, Personality disorders, bipolar disorder, medically unexplained conditions, psychosomatic disorders etc. He regularly supports patients dealing with stress-related challenges, including those linked to occupational issues, personal relationships and physical health conditions.
He is approved by the Secretary of State, under the Mental health Act, 1983 as having special experience in diagnosing and treating mental disorders.
His clinical philosophy centres on a holistic and collaborative approach, placing patients’ values and goals at the heart of their treatment. He works in partnership with individuals to address not only their medical needs but also broader lifestyle factors, stress management, coping strategies, and socio-occupational functioning. When appropriate, he refers patients to other specialists to ensure a comprehensive care pathway.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Singhal has contributed significantly to the profession of psychiatry. He has held leadership roles within the Royal College of Psychiatrists, including as a regional representative and executive committee member, and has participated in consultant recruitment panels and peer appraisals. He is an accredited trainer, supervisor, and MRCPsych examiner for the Royal College.
He has participated in several research projects as a lead investigator. His academic work includes numerous publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
His outstanding contributions to psychiatry have been recognised with Clinical Excellence Awards and the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych).
