About Mr Daniel Good
Mr Daniel Good is a Consultant Urological Surgeon based in Edinburgh, specialising in the diagnosis and management of prostate disease. His expertise covers the full spectrum of prostate care, including raised PSA diagnostics, robotic prostate cancer surgery, and minimally invasive treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia such as Green Light laser prostatectomy. He also has extensive experience in circumcision, scrotal surgery, lower urinary tract symptoms, and recurrent urinary tract infections. Mr Good works within NHS Lothian across the Western General Hospital, St John’s Hospital, and Roodlands Hospital, and also sees private patients at Spire Murrayfield Hospital and The Edinburgh Clinic. After graduating in Medicine from Trinity College Dublin, he moved to Edinburgh where he completed a PhD at the University of Edinburgh on the role of elasticity as a biomarker for prostate cancer. He undertook higher surgical training on the prestigious East of Scotland training scheme, including a TUF/PS in-training fellowship in prostate cancer with a focus on robotic surgery. He further developed his subspecialty expertise through a preceptorship at the Cleveland Clinic, USA, and by visiting high-volume robotic centres across the United States. In 2020, Mr Good led the introduction of local anaesthetic transperineal (LATP) prostate biopsy using Precision Point into NHS Lothian services—a service he continues to oversee to this day. In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Good is actively involved in research and education. He is a co-investigator for several major national studies, including the NIHR UK-wide TRANSLATE and PART trials, and the PRISTINE prostate cancer imaging trial, as well as holding his own research grant. He has published widely on prostate cancer diagnostics and treatment. Mr Good is also a dedicated educator, serving as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and Research Supervisor at the University of Edinburgh, Heriot Watt University, and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, where he trains and mentors future surgeons.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
