About Dr Colin Goudie
Dr Colin Goudie is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in cataract and vitreoretinal surgery. He holds a substantive NHS consultant post across Lothian and the Borders and also practises privately at Clarity Edinburgh and Nuffield Health Edinburgh Hospital. His clinical work encompasses both routine and complex cataract surgery, with expertise in a range of intraocular lenses, including monofocal, toric, enhanced monofocal, and extended depth of focus lenses. Dr Goudie has particular expertise in vitreoretinal surgery and manages conditions such as macular holes, epiretinal membranes, floaters, and retinal detachments. He also undertakes secondary and complex intraocular lens implantation and is frequently referred patients with post-operative complications requiring specialist care. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh and completed his specialist ophthalmic training at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh and Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline. He subsequently undertook two years of advanced training in vitreoretinal surgery in Edinburgh and Auckland, New Zealand. Following this, he was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion and Borders General Hospital. Dr Goudie is currently the Clinical Lead for the Ophthalmic Acute Referral Clinic in Edinburgh and is actively involved in postgraduate education, contributing to the training of future ophthalmologists. https://www.colingoudieeyesurgery.com/
