Having earned an MD from the University of Edinburgh on the engineering of partial knee replacements, she is now an Honorary Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London where she is involved in the development of new partial knee replacement implants. Her research efforts are centred on enhancing the outcomes of joint replacement surgery and optimising implant designs. She is regularly invited to share her research and surgical expertise at both national and international conferences.

Her significant contributions to the field have garnered national recognition, including the prestigious Hunter-Doig medal for excellence in surgery, presented by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2020. She is included in the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh portrait "Eleven Surgeons" which was added to their collection in 2025 and depistc all 9 previosu winners of the Hunter-Doig medal.
