About

Dr Chinwe Ude is a highly experienced Consultant Paediatrician with expertise in general paediatric conditions, as well as additional expertise in children's epilepsy and neurology. With a background in neurology from Cambridge University Hospital, Addenbrookes, Dr Ude provides specialised care for many children with concerns about fits, falls, abnormal gait and sensory problem. She also deals with Sleep difficulties and chronic Headaches in children.

Dr Ude is experienced in managing the complexities of conditions such as cerebral palsy and other neuro-disabilities. She can provide a comprehensive care plan for any child with a diagnosis of epilepsy, which is a vital document for schools and other carers to support the child and family with the diagnosis, including travel plans for when they have to go on holiday.

Having been an NHS consultant since 2016, Dr Ude is currently the Clinical Lead for the Paediatric Epilepsy and Neurology Service (PENS) in her NHS Trust. She runs weekly clinics in general paediatric, epilepsy, and neurology over 42 weeks of the year, holding at least 1,680 consultations a year. She also runs a Joint Neurology Clinic as well as Complex Epilepsy Clinics alongside Neurologists from Guys and St Thomas' Hospital.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Ude is an Honorary Lecturer at Brighton University for the MSc in Paediatrics Programme, and a Health Advisor and Ambassador for the Roald Dahl's Children's Charity. She also volunteers for Age UK Medway, where she is a Befriender for the Charity.

Dr Ude is known for being warm and caring, and is passionate about advocating for children and young people; their health needs, service provision, and health outcomes. She connects well with her young patients at their level, recognising that each child is an individual with their own unique personality and health needs. This enables her to deliver the best possible care for her patients.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
