Caitriona began her career working with adults across a range of specialties including Women’s Health, Plastics, Orthopaedics, and Neurology. Her training took place in both the Royal Hospital Donnybrook and University Hospital Galway (UHG). In 2011, she joined Temple Street Children’s Hospital (TSCUH), where she became Senior Physiotherapist in Plastics and Musculoskeletal, and led the physiotherapy service in the National Paediatric Craniofacial Centre (NPCC).

During her tenure at TSCUH, Caitriona developed extensive expertise in paediatric conditions such as torticollis and plagiocephaly, treating infants and children nationwide. She played a leading role in national education and prevention initiatives, including co-developing the National Plagiocephaly Information Leaflet with the ISCP. Caitriona regularly presents at national conferences and has lectured at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) on the Paediatric Module for final-year physiotherapy students.

In 2015, Caitriona was part of the multidisciplinary team that established Ireland’s first dedicated Facial Palsy Clinic within the NPCC. She completed the advanced Facial Palsy course with the Facial Therapy Specialists (FTS-UK) and undertook site visits to specialist clinics in the UK. She is highly skilled in both conservative and post-surgical rehabilitation for facial palsy.

Her work as Senior Physiotherapist in Plastics also included extensive experience in Hand Therapy, particularly in Congenital Upper Limb Anomalies. Caitriona has assessed and treated rare and complex hand conditions, provided national-level training for clinicians, and presented at the Irish Hand Surgery Society conference. She is a member of both the Irish Hand Therapy Association and the British Hand Therapy Association.

Alongside these specialist areas, Caitriona has broad expertise in paediatric musculoskeletal physiotherapy, managing conditions such as hypermobility, flat feet, in-toeing/out-toeing, complex fractures, and overuse injuries (e.g. Sever’s disease, Osgood-Schlatter’s disease).
