About Dr Assad Zahid
Dr Assad Zahid is a Consultant Colorectal and Minimally Invasive General Surgeon who works across multiple sites, including Campbelltown Public Hospital, Campbelltown Private Hospital, Liverpool Hospital, The George Centre, Sydney Adventist Hospital, Macarthur Surgical Group, and Liverpool Colorectal Associates. He also consults at Suite 2, Level 3, 11 Elizabeth Street, Liverpool, and Suite B109, 4 Hyde Parade, Campbelltown. Dr Zahid performs surgery for both general surgical and colorectal conditions, with expertise in minimally invasive and robotic techniques. He manages a broad range of colorectal disorders, including advanced pelvic malignancy, and has training in robotic and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He also performs diagnostic and interventional colonoscopies. All cancer cases are reviewed through colorectal multidisciplinary team meetings at Liverpool Hospital or Sydney Adventist Hospital. He completed his General Surgical training in Sydney and received his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Dr Zahid was awarded the Mitchell J Notaras Scholarship in Colorectal Surgery for three consecutive years by the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) and the University of Sydney, supporting advanced training in colorectal surgery. His advanced colorectal fellowship was undertaken at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, with a focus on advanced pelvic malignancy. He subsequently completed further fellowships in the United Kingdom at St Mark’s Hospital and Basingstoke Hospital. Dr Zahid has a strong interest in research and education. He has published more than 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals and holds a Master of Surgery and a Master of Philosophy. He has recently completed a PhD in Surgical Education and Training, alongside his work as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at The Australian National University.
