About
During his time at NHS Tayside, Dr. Aravinthan was highly regarded for his clinical skills and leadership. He led large multidisciplinary teams of 16-24 members and was the lead clinician for the inpatient rehabilitation unit, playing a pivotal role in shaping the service. He also served as the Clinical Lead for general adult psychiatry in the Perth Division, where he was instrumental in developing psychiatric services and refining clinical pathways to ensure high-quality care.
Dr. Aravinthan's expertise extends beyond clinical practice to his role as an expert panel psychiatrist for the Scottish Mental Health Tribunal Services. In 2019, Dr. Aravinthan relocated to the UAE to join the Behavioural Sciences Institute of Al Ain Hospital, SEHA, where he continued to deliver exceptional care. He also has significant experience in delivering electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for treatment-resistant depression and psychosis.
His special interests include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, PTSD, and psychopharmacology. Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Aravinthan has made significant contributions to medical education. Currently, as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the UAE University in Al Ain, he continues to train the next generation of doctors.
Dr. Aravinthan's dedication to both clinical excellence and education ensures that he provides compassionate, evidence-based care while contributing to the ongoing development of psychiatry in the UAE.
