During his training, he was nominated for multiple prizes and won the Arthur Kendall prize, which was a testament to his dedication and expertise. As a forward thinking Consultant, he won the Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Award for Research, Innovation and Quality improvement in 2023.  As a trainer, he has been awarded a Paediatric Award for Training Achivements for Educational Supervision in 2021.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kanani has been appointed as a regional Training Program Director within the School of Paediatrics, West Midlands.
