About Mr Ahmed Eid
Mr Ahmed Eid is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hand & Wrist and Shoulder & Elbow Surgery at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust in the NHS, in addition to an extensive practice in the private sector. He completed his medical degree at Ain Shams University, Egypt, in 2003, followed by his residency training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at Ain Shams University Hospitals, receiving his Master's Degree in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2007. Continuing his education, Mr Eid completed two Musculoskeletal Reconstruction Fellowships. He spent two years at the Korea Cancer Centre Hospital in South Korea and five months at Munich University Hospitals (LMU), Germany, where he contributed to several scientific articles and obtained his MD in Orthopaedics from Ain Shams University, Egypt. In 2010, Mr Eid commenced five years of Orthopaedic training in the UK, achieving his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma & Orthopaedics. He then pursued a 15-month Shoulder Fellowship at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital with Mr Richard Hartley. Following this, he completed a one-year Fellowship in upper limb reconstruction and sports medicine at the PanAm Clinic in Canada under the mentorship of Prof Peter MacDonald, the former president of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association. Before assuming his role as a consultant, Mr Eid completed a Trauma Fellowship at University Hospitals Coventry, focusing on upper limb trauma management. He prioritises delivering the highest quality care to his patients and frequently visits renowned institutions such as the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA, Wrightington Orthopaedic Unit, and Sheffield Hand Centre. Mr Eid has been on the GMC specialist register for trauma and orthopaedic surgery since January 2017. He has served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in upper limb surgery, within the NHS since October 2017, initially in the Yorkshire region and later moving to UHMBT in August 2020. With a keen interest in research, Mr Eid has presented nationally and internationally and has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals. He also actively participates in the departmental teaching program for junior doctors.
