Mr Ahmed Makso is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in Cornea and Refractive Surgery, currently practising at the Clarity and Lancashire Eye Clinic, as well as Hull Royal Eye Hospital. Ahmed graduated in Medicine (MB ChB) from Alexandria University in 2002, where he also completed his initial ophthalmic training. He went on to earn fellowships from both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London, alongside a certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery. His specialist training includes an ICO-funded fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and a prestigious Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at Queen Victoria Hospital. He holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, one of the UK’s leading centres for ocular oncology.
Ahmed is deeply committed to education and holds a Master’s in Medical Education from the University of Manchester, with a focus on simulation in surgical training. He serves as an examiner and microsurgical skills trainer for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and PLAB examiner, and has published widely in ophthalmology and medical education.
