About

Mr Adrian Casey, Consultant Neurosurgeon, works jointly within the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, Queen Square. He is the first neurosurgeon to be designated a pure spinal surgeon – bringing together two major surgical types, orthopaedics and neurosurgery.

Mr Casey was originally appointed as Consultant Neurosurgeon at Charing Cross Hospital, before taking on his current role. He also actively engages in teaching holding the position of Senior Lecturer at Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine, as well as Honorary Senior Lecturer at Institute of Orthopaedics and Institute of Neurology at UCL (a world-leading institution in neurology).

Mr Casey holds several roles within professional organisations including Tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons, AO Spinal Foundation, and Expert International Faculty for De Puy Spine. He is also a co-Director of the European Association of Neurological Surgeons and President of the British Association of Spine Surgeons.

Mr Casey remains an active member of the research community, publishing research on all aspects of the spine including neck and back pain, spinal stabilisation, artificial disc technology, cervical myelopathy, lumbar canal stenosis, and spinal tumours.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
