Dr. AbdulRahman Alvi is a UK-trained Consultant Vascular and Interventional Radiologist with extensive international experience in advanced minimally invasive procedures. He holds dual accrediation from the Royal Collegge of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Radiologists. After completing his surgical training in the West Midlands and London, he underwent specialist radiology training at Sheffield University Teaching Hospitals,UK.
Following his core training, Dr. Alvi undertook advanced fellowship training at the Royal Free Hospital in London, where he developed specialized expertise in vascular, hepatobiliary, and oncology interventions.
He is widely recognized for his role in introducing cutting-edge interventional techniques, including performing the first pulmonary thrombectomy outside North America using the Lightning12 CAVT device, as well as the first stereotactic liver ablation in the Middle East utilizing the Cas-One system.
Dr. Alvi currently practices across several leading institutions, including UK Veincentre and King’s College Hospital. His clinical interests span tumour embolisation and ablation, hepatobiliary and transplant interventions, management of portal hypertension, gynecological and urological procedures, thyroid ablation, arterial and venous interventions, and transcatheter micro-arterial embolisation for chronic joint and tendon pain.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Alvi is actively involved in medical education having authored a book and published numerous scientific papers, contributing to the advancement of interventional radiology. He is regularly invited as faculty for various international and regional conferences and has a passion for raising the awareness of interventional radiology among the public and clinicians.
