Whitecraigs Care home is based in Glasgow's Thornliebank area. The home promotes physical and mental wellbeing through delivering person-centred care, and is well known and loved by the community it serves.
Their residential and nursing care is always delivered with patience, kindness, understanding and good communication, in recognition of which, the home is shortlisted in the 2020/21 Scottish Care home awards for their approach to delivering meaningful activity.
Whitecraigs is in the heart of the community and is tastefully decorated to create a warm and welcoming environment for residents and their loved ones to enjoy.
The home offers 58 single en suite bedrooms, of which residents are encouraged to personalise themselves. Within the home there are lots of spaces to relax as well as socialise including TV lounges and private gardens. There is an in-house hairdresser and access to WiFi for all residents. In addition, there is an activities team who organise a schedule of activities for residents to enjoy as and when they wish, meaning there is always something for them to look forward to.
Our nursing and care teams are highly trained and professional, dealing with a variety of nursing care needs for all our residents, and they are constantly reviewing their skills and training to ensure continuous quality improvement. The provision of care is focused around individual care plans and incorporates respect and dignity at every point. The team are able to care for those with complex medical needs, those requiring respite care, palliative care and for those with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
The food at Whitecraigs is of a high standard. The cook will meet with all residents when they arrive to discuss personal likes and dislikes, allergens and dietary requirements. Meals and home baking are prepared in the kitchen by Whitecraigs team of cooks. Menus are rotated and refreshed regularly. All menus (which include a vegetarian option) are designed to ensure that all residents receive a nutritious, well-balanced diet which meets their individual needs.
Additional services provided at Whitecraigs also include (but are not limited to): an in-house laundry service, visits from podiatry specialist, newspaper delivery and holistic therapies.
